Music Music Music

Tonight I went to the UC Concert Winds spring concert. It was a great time and I kindof wish I would have gone to more concerts during my time here. The songs were great, the MC was stupidly funny and the company was great. Afterwords three of us went to IHOP, yes Ben IHOP not VI, and then went to Wal-Mart, yes Amy evil Wal-Mart. Anywho I got The Legend of Johnny Cash. I am listening to it right now and completely lovin it. I almost bought Recordings From Folsom Prison. I am kindof glad I didn't even though live recordings are funny at times. I have decided that I really love a variety of music but Country and Christian are ones I listen to the most and love the most. I'm headed to bed happy and tired. Tis a good way to be.

Union Moved

Has anyone seen the corn fields of Nebraska lately? Cause I think Union got teleported to a small suburban area of Seatle Washington. Oooo that would make a couple friends of mine happy cause they would be closer to home and others are infatuated with Grey's Anatomy. hmmm

sad revelation

My last post was about a wonderful sunny day that looked snowy because of the trees. And now it is tuesday near the end of april and they are forecasting snow in parts of Nebraska. Does that seem a little twisted to anyone else? I do realize it is typical Midwest weather but I can't help but be alittle annoyed, especially when I only had one pair of pants to wear and like 5 pairs of shorts just waiting to be worn. My goodness... spring.

Snowing

Last week all the trees were blooming and showing their pretty flowers. One day it was really windy in the morning and it was blowing the petals off the trees. It was such a beautiful sight cause it looked like snow. It also reminded me of The Last Samurai which is also a good memory and a great movie. Thats all.

Fold or scrunch

I was asked this question Saturday night- Do you fold or scrunch your toilet paper?
I fold mine... do you?

O Street Lincoln Nebraska

I heard a couple weeks ago that O Street is the longest straightest main street. Well I finally looked it up and it turns out to be true. O Street is the longest straightest main street in the WORLD!! How crazy is that? The first link when I googled it was a BBC website that had info on Lincoln NE and that was one of the facts on Lincoln. I think it is pretty cool that we have another world record besides the most people yo-yoing in a single place for 3 minutes. I am sure we have other world records but none that are as cool as those two.

ps.
Also Zero Street by Allen Ginsberg is written due to the inspiration of O Street.

PS To International House of Pancakes

A month or more ago I posted about how the country fried steak and eggs meals didn't come with pancakes. Well that is only according to our server for the night. A smaller group of us went there after the play and upon looking at the menu a "that dirty punk" came out of my mouth directed at my previous server. All in all this IHOP experience turned out to be a good one. We were like 5 of 5 people that were there to start with because of an incredible thunderstorm that rolled through with torrential rain, lightening and thunder. I was hoping that a loud thunder crack would happen when I have to play my weak impression of thunder for the play. It didn't quite happen but it was a great time for the play. Only 9 empty seats, 138 out of 147. SWEET!!! Okay back to IHOP... Because we were the biggest group the waitress was pretty laid back and when I told her briefly about my previous experience, she gave us all a drink on the house which made up for it. Anywho, IHOP's Country Fried Steak and Egg breakfast DOES come with pancakes and I am thankful we got the good server. A couple other people came in from the play and got not so good service. I'm glad that there are still people out there who are nice and make up for others short commings.

Vesper Concert Series

Last night there was a concert for vespers. I had never heard of the person that was going to be singing but the concert fact made me happy. Well... I think we all got more than we expected, even Pastor Rich. The performer's name was and is David Harsh and he is an awesome guitarist. The whole time I was mezmerized and filled with peace. It has been far too long since I saw a concert and even longer since I have written any songs. I have been even more delinquent with my guitar playing than my blogging. David's performance and testimonies made me desire to pick up my guitar and play. Telling you I went back and played guitar all night and all afternoon would be a lie. Wishful thoughts of playing and writing have been on my mind. Even when my brother invited me a park between school and his house to play guitar and frisbee, I decline. Instead I watched The Mission which was a sobering experience and made me thankful for life and freedom. The music in the movie was movingly peaceful in parts and hauntingly devilish in others. Side note- A recent film is sort of a sequell and is called End of the Spear, which I hope to watch before school gets out. Music has always had a powerful influence on me so now after my nap I am listening to Jars of Clay- Redemption Songs and enjoying the different styles of music they play. I have missed music lately and I feel the reason behind this is my lack of faith in my walk. A feeling of wandering has been hanging over me for the past couple months. Helping out in the Youth Department has help and made the yearning inside me stronger. I want to have the passion I had in High School. Wether they know it or not, they Youth are helping me when I thought I was just helping them. Standing off in the wings won't help you soar. Stepping out and off in faith, helps you soar. Hmmmm... started this post about a concert and ended with my walk... My walk is Music.
